The Colour Blue

As children, we think you are everywhere.

Crayon in hand, we make you the sea and the sky.

But then we learn water is clear

and skies turn gray before a storm.

So we hunt for you in other places.

The feeling when the last chord of your favorite song ends,

the pale veins inside our wrists.

When a room is perfectly quiet and still.

Perhaps you have always been with us.

We just didn't know where to look.
